About the event
The Trial Advocacy Committee, School of Law, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), organised the Internal Trial Ranking Rounds (ITRR) to develop and enhance the practical trial advocacy skills of law students. The event provided students with an opportunity to simulate real courtroom proceedings and apply their theoretical understanding of criminal law, evidence, and trial procedure in a practical setting. Students from the 1st to 5th years of the School of Law participated in the Internal Trial Ranking Rounds.
The ITRR was conducted in two phases, comprising a Procedure-cum-Researcher’s Test followed by Oral Rounds. The oral rounds involved real-time examination-in-chief and cross-examination of witnesses, along with case analysis, argumentation, and the application of procedural rules, thereby closely mirroring actual trial proceedings.
The ITRR further served as a platform to rank and select teams to participate in external trial advocacy competitions for the academic years 2026-27 and 2027-28. By bridging classroom learning with simulated courtroom…
